About fit and installation
Swim platform from 900 mm? See QR 250 Standard
How it works
The winch arm goes into the square tube on the cradle, and the cradle is turned and tilted down towards the water. The hook is attached to the bow eye of the tender.
The winch pulls the tender up onto the cradle, bow first.
Once the centre of gravity has passed the pivot point, the cradle settles down. At the same time the tender turns a quarter turn, so that it ends up across the swim platform.
The tender lies across the swim platform, with a large part outside the edge. It is strapped down to its own fixings in the swim platform, on Special to the eye bolts on the mounting plate. Never to the cradle.
How long a tender?
It depends on where the weight of the tender sits, on the winch arm and on the boat.
- Tender with an outboard, where the weight sits behind the middle: for example, a RIB of 2.5–3.3 m fits with the standard arm.
- Jet ski or tender with a water jet, where the weight sits in the middle: up to about 3.8–4 m with the standard arm.
- Longer tender with an outboard: the winch arm can have a longer straight part, about 250 mm longer, which reaches to about 4 m. Get in touch if you would like it.
This is a guide only.
What is included
Two packages, as in the manual.
Package 1, QR 250:
- The cradle, white or black
- The mounting plate, 340 × 340 mm
- The winch arm in two parts, with locking pin
- The winch, standard winch or stainless winch
- Two mounting points, each with backing plate, bolts, washers and lock nuts
- The bolts that fix the mounting plate to the mounting points
Package 2, the Special kit:
- The special plate (the mounting plate for a shorter swim platform)
- One mounting point with backing plate, bolts, washers and lock nuts. The other two are included in QR 250 Standard.
- Four eye bolts for the tie-down straps
- A locking bolt, which locks the cradle so that it does not turn when it is not carrying a tender
The plastic mounting plate in package 1 is not used with Special. It is replaced by the special plate in package 2.
Tie-down straps are not included. They are available as accessories.
We make Baybring in Sweden. The arm and bracket are electropolished marine-grade stainless steel, and the special plate is marine-grade aluminium.
Installation
Speedshine does not carry out installation. It is done by the boat owner, a yard or a dealer.
Each mounting point needs one 22–24 mm hole for the centre spigot and two 8–10 mm holes for the bolts. Special has three mounting points, the third of which is in the Special kit.
Backing plates, washers and lock nuts sit on the underside, and the holes are sealed with Sikaflex or similar.
For a jet ski, the davit is fitted on the centre line of the boat. For a RIB with a heavy outboard, it can be moved towards the side where the stern of the tender ends up, since the weight sits further back. If you switch between them, the middle works for both.
